we should have learned from the past

after ondoy, everyone has become aware of the possible effects a typhoon may bring..so the moment pepeng was forecasted to enter the philippine area of responsibility..all agencies and organizations have activated their typhoon contingency plans..including the company where i am affiliated..day after day, i really see to it that i send my updates to the higher management..

came pepeng..the forecast have been inaccurate because instead of directly hitting central luzon, pepeng routed himself to the northern part of luzon..slowly but going west..hurray..i even finalized my report re damages and restoration of our assets not knowing the coming days would be more critical..

and then typhoon quedan enter the atmosphere..and by fujiwara effect..typhoon quedan pulled back the force of pepeng..making pepeng almost stationary for almost two days i think..and made his way back to the west of north luzon..bringing a large volume of rain specifically at benguet, la union and pangasinan..

another tragedy indeed..we thought we had learned from the incident of ondoy..but here is another..we already easily pulled out our guard when we saw pepeng leaving the country..how sad that the negligence has cost us again many lives..

history repeats itself..but there is this thing that we called learning from our mistakes..what must have been done..what must not have been done..and it all goes down to us again..we knew what to do..but there is still that negative attitude in us to resist warnings and go on like everything is gonna be alright even if the danger is right there in front of us..how morbid..

ondoy and pepeng should be enough for us..and now we're expecting another supertyphoon..ramil..(tokayo!)..by now..we should have learned from the past..let's face the challenge with our guards on the maximum..and pray..
